The first head coach of the Cleveland Browns was named Paul Brown. Allegedly, the owner named his team after them. While the legendary Paul Brown was slightly uncomfortable with this award, he was able to go undefeated in the 1948 season, the last team to go undefeated before the Miami Dolphins in 1972. The Cleveland Browns never managed to make it to the elusive Super Bowl before 1996. In that year, Art Modell declared he was moving the team to Baltimore, a move that outraged fans and public figures in the city. 3 years later, in 1999, the Cleveland Browns were born again in Cleveland. |
